  • Flying Butter Dish

    Does butter fly?

This item has been sold, but I would be happy to custom make a similar one  just for you!

This little creature will guard your butter with her life, and look cheery and fanciful on your kitchen counter while she does it!

This butter dish is made from white earthenware clay, it is food safe and can be put into the dishwasher if you must but if you ask him he will tell you that he would prefer to be lovingly hand washed.

I used layers of engobes, staines and under glazes all sealed under a layer of thinned clear glaze to achieve the textures and patterns on this piece.

The dish holds 1/2 a stick of butter is 3″tall and 4″ wide.

  • Blue Tear Drop Sake set

This simple little vessel has a big splash of colorful pattern dripping from its rim. Fun for serving sake to your friends!

This sake set is made from white earthenware clay, it is food safe and can be put into the dishwasher if you must but if you ask him he will tell you that he would prefer to be lovingly hand washed.

Rather than using glaze, the surface was treated with white terra sigillata (a solution made from the finest clay particles that leaves a sexy luster/sheen without the use of glaze) in this case the surface is burnished to a finish that looks somewhat like bone and the colorful pattern was hand painted on with velvet underglaze and a dilute clear glaze on top.

The bottle holds 2/3 cup of liquid and is 4.5″ tall and each cup will hold 1/16th cup, so you can fill the cups up several times before the bottle is empty.

  • Toadstool Butterdish

This french butter dish looks as though it was picked from the forest under a moonlit and starry sky.

  • Vintage Towel Skirt

Made from vintage towels this cute skirt is very absorbent!!!

I found these fancy vintage hand towels and felt that they had a purpose higher than drying hands (although they are still absorbent so dry away if you must).

This skirt is a size medium (fits a womens 6 7 8 or 9), it fits well both at the natural waist as well as at the hip so this makes its sizing more versatile.

Because the terrycloth will likely fray a little bit I carefully zig zag stitched all the seams for durability.

spot Hand wash and line dry or dry clean only.

Knee length Skirt made entirely from vintage neckties!

    Available on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/tatterdamelion

I  really enjoy the idea of taking a masculine business world symbol and turning it into something that is fanciful and feminine.

The design in the photo is one I made for myself, and have warn a whole lot.

If you are interested in having one like it, Please visit my etsystore http://www.etsy.com/shop/tatterdamelion or get in touch with me directly @ sasha@tatterdamelion.com

Because I do not use a pattern, and all my materials are vintage neck ties, each item I make in this way is entirely unique…no two will ever come out exactly the same, and I love to explore new ways to put them together.

This butter dish is made from white earthenware clay, it is food safe and can be put into the dishwasher if you must but if you ask her she will tell you that she would prefer to be lovingly hand washed.

I used layers of engobes, staines and under glazes all sealed under a layer of thinned clear glaze to achieve the textures and patterns on this piece. There is a lovely crackle effect from the thickness of the engobe (an engobe is a slip made from clay colored with stain).
